The Mineral Schoolhouse is a historic gem in Mineral, WA. Originally built in 1947, this vintage schoolhouse has been transformed into a welcoming vacation rental. Guests have easy access to walk to Mineral Lake or drive 15 minutes to the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park.
Accommodations
The schoolhouse features a total of six bedrooms. Four large classrooms, the principal’s office, and the admin office have been converted into guest rooms, providing ample space for up to 16 guests to relax and unwind. There are two large restrooms, each with private shower areas.

60-Day Notice: If you cancel your gym space reservation at least 60 days prior to your booking date, you may be eligible for a refund. This refund will be processed only if we can rebook the dates you reserved. A cancellation processing fee of $125.00 will apply, and this amount will be deducted from your refund.

Damage and Policy Violations: The Mineral Schoolhouse reserves the right to charge your credit card for any necessary repair, replacement, or cleaning costs resulting from damage, smoking, pets, inaccurate guest count, or other violations of our policies. In such cases, violators may also be evicted without a refund.

How do we Check-in:Check-in is at 3:00 PM. Guests can conveniently check themselves in using a lockbox provided on the premises. We will send you an email prior to your stay with all the details.

Check-in & Check-out Times:Check-in time is at 3 PM, and check-out time is at 11 AM. We kindly ask guests to adhere to these times for smooth transitions for our next guests.

What is the Pet Policy:we welcome well-behaved dogs at Mineral Schoolhouse. However other pets (other than dogs) or crated animals are not permitted. We understand that dogs are part of the family, so feel free to bring them along for your stay. Guests are responsible for their dogs' behavior and any related damages. Dogs must be crated when left alone. Please notify us in advance if you plan to bring a dog, as additional fees or restrictions may apply. We will need to take additional measure to remove pet fur/hair when it come to preparing for the next guests arrival.

Smoking Policy:Smoking is restricted to the firepit area only; please dispose of cigarette butts there to avoid fire hazards or additional cleaning fees.

Wheelchair-accessible:The Mineral Schoolhouse does not have wheelchair-accessible rooms that are up to date with ADA regulations, but ramps are available for entry into the schoolhouse and access to the gym.

Moving Furniture:We ask that you return all furniture to the place in where you originally found it. We pride ourselves in providing each guest with a clean and comfortable rental. A big part of providing a great rental is getting your stay off to a good start and having the venue ready for check-in at the time it is promised. If you were unable to check-in at the time you were expecting to, that would be very disappointing to you. Therefore, if you move the furniture we just ask you to return it before you check out! In advance we want to thank you for your cooperation.

Wi-FiWe do offer free Wi-Fi, but you are in the woods and it is very secluded out here, which is part of the charm and desire to escape and unplug, literally. If you do not get great service from the Wi-Fi that is provided. Unfortunately, we cannot do much about that during your stay. We encourage you to enjoy books, games, the outdoors and the gym!

What are the accommodation and event capacity details at Mineral Schoolhouse for weddings?At Mineral Schoolhouse, we offer unique wedding and event hosting services in a beautifully transformed vintage schoolhouse. Our facility can comfortably cater to various accommodation and event needs. For overnight stays, we provide spacious sleeping accommodations for up to 20 guests with our current bed setup. If you anticipate having more than 30 guests staying overnight, please inform us in advance so we can make necessary arrangements. For your wedding or event, our Gymnasium can comfortably host 200 guests with the chairs and tables we provide. We are experienced in accommodating larger groups as well, having successfully hosted events with 300-400 attendees in the past. Our goal is to ensure that every aspect of your special day is well-catered for, providing both a charming venue and the convenience of on-site lodging in the cozy town of Mineral, WA.

My guest count consists of 30+ guests at Mineral Schoolhouse, do I need to do anything special or let you know?It is critical to inform us if your event includes 30 guests or more. When we are not aware of a larger guest count and cannot charge the appropriate cleaning fee, it often results in delays for subsequent guests who may have to wait longer to check in. This is not fair to them (we certainly do not want to do this to you or any of our guests). We strive to maintain the highest level of service for all our clients. Therefore, please let us know about your guest count in advance so we can arrange for additional cleaning staff, ensuring a smooth experience for your party as well as the next group of guests. Also, if we are unaware of your accurate guest count you may not get the right permitting (depending on the type of event you are hosting)!! This may cause you issues in the long run. Please reach out if you are unsure if you need additional permitting. Your cooperation helps us keep the Mineral Schoolhouse a welcoming and efficient venue for everyone. If you let us know after you have paid that the guest count will increase we will send you an invoice to pay immediately should an additional cleaning fee be necessary. How do I book a wedding or other large event at Mineral Schoolhouse, and are there any special guidelines I need to know about?To book a wedding, reunion, corporate event, or any retreat at Mineral Schoolhouse, we recommend that you reach out to us directly through our customer service portal. This is because events with more than 30 guests have additional guidelines that we need to adhere to in order to ensure everything goes smoothly. You cannot book an event with more than 20 guests when using Airbnb. Please complete an Event Inquiry Form so we may assist you further.

If I stay during the winter will there be snow?If you are staying during the colder winter months, be prepared for snow. We love this time of year at the schoolhouse; it becomes a white winter wonderland. We encourage you to stock up; clothing wise for playing outdoors but also for your pantry items. What is the history of the Mineral Schoolhouse?The Mineral Schoolhouse Enjoy a stay at this vintage, small town, school house. This property is located in the tiny town of Mineral, WA that was once the center of a booming mining and logging industry. A devastating fire in the 1920’s switched the towns main draw to the fantastic recreational fishing on Mineral Lake. We are just a short walk to the public access boat launch, hiking, biking, and only 15 minutes from year round access to Mount Rainier National Park. The space The original Schoolhouse built in 1947 is practically untouched. There are four LARGE (almost 1000 sq. ft. each!) classrooms that we have converted into bedrooms and two smaller bedrooms that used to be the nurses' office and administration office. A huge common room complete with a large kitchen that was used to cook all the lunches for the students. It boasts a large dining area for 20+ friends and family to sit together and enjoy their meals. Two bathrooms are in the hallway, each with a private shower area, which is the same as when school was in session. We have kept the character and the charm of the school from its original design. DOES MINERAL SCHOOLHOUSE REQUIRE SPECIFIC CATERERS?We do not! Our only requirement is that the caterer you select is a full service caterer and fully licensed and insured. We do offer a preferred vendor list and work with many great caterers, please let us know and we are happy to make recommendations.

IS A WEDDING COORDINATOR REQUIRED?Yes, trust us, you will thank us later! We offer planning services. You may choose Full Planning or Month Of Management. We have experienced planner that are able to provide you with the best service for the Mineral Schoolhouse. If you choose to forgo our planners for you event, you will need to have at minimum a day of planner. You will need to provide their contact information and website; one month prior to your event. If you do not provide this information then we will assign one of our Month of Managers to your event and will will charge you the coordination fee of $1800. For pricing on Full Planning or Month of Management please complete an Event Inquiry Form.

WHAT ARE THE PARKING OPTIONS? HOW IS IT HANDLED?We have ample parking, Depending on the size of he event you may have all your guests park out front. Or if you are having food truck, you may want to discuss that with us first we have some great ideas of where they should park to keep the flow of the party running smoothly. If you have a large event we may open the back acreage up for parking. However, we will need to charge you for at least one parking attendant(s) (or more). We do not allow parking in the back without some guidance as we have a well out there that cannot be driven on. You must talk to us first before anyone drives back there. HOW DO I RESERVE MY DATE?First you start with filling out an Event Inquiry. Then we may have a quick phone call to nail out some details. We require a signed contract and a non-refundable Booking Fee of 25% which then secures the date in question for you.

WILL YOU BOOK MORE THAN ONE EVENT ON THE SAME DAY?No, if you are booking the gym and the schoolhouse we will not offer the venue to anyone else throughout your stay. If you are booking the Gym only on a Saturday, there might be an over night booking for the schoolhouse only. In both contracts it does state that neither party are to interrupt the other and there will be a Mineral Schoolhouse staff member on location. Please reach out for clarification. 253.439.0303

WHAT DOES THE PAYMENT SCHEDULE LOOK LIKE?We take 25% down and then break up the balance into monthly payments. You care completely paid up one month prior to your event/wedding day.

WHAT COMES WITH RENTING THE 'VENUE' FOR AN EVENT? AND DO YOU OFFER DECOR?Our gym has a stage, bleachers. A boys and girls locker room and each have showers in the locker rooms. Although our gym has enough seating for well over 200 we have seating and rectangle tables for up to 200 guests. Do we have décor? Yes, we are getting more and more all the time. We can share a list with you. You will still need to source much of your own items. At this point we would not say it is all cohesive for one wedding theme. We have some Boho, Nautical, Rustic, Victorian & Vintage.
