From Serendipity to Legacy: The Journey of Revitalizing the Mineral Schoolhouse into a Cherished Event Venue
Sometimes, life has a funny way of surprising us when we least expect it. When my husband Brian suggested we visit Mineral Schoolhouse, I'll admit, I wasn't convinced. The idea of turning an old school into a Airbnb seemed daunting, to say the least.
But then, as fate would have it, we stepped into the kitchen, and there it was—the Garland Stove. The same stove my dad always claimed he was named after. At that moment, something clicked. It was as if the universe was nudging me, whispering, "This is meant to be."
Suddenly, Brian's idea didn't seem so far-fetched anymore. The thought of breathing new life into this historic space, of creating a haven for travelers and storytellers alike, filled me with excitement. And so, against all odds, we embarked on this journey together.
I have known KaDeana since high school and because Brian and I have been in the Real Estate and Architectural Design Industry for decades she has asked us to help her find a wedding venue and we have taken her to view a dozen or so over about a 6 year span. Nothing ever seemed to be the right fit for her or the deal just was not meant to be. We learned what she was looking for was not only a venue space but accommodations for the wedding party. During our tour of the Mineral Schoolhouse Gym Brian said, “call KaDeana!”, we Facetimed her and said, “we found your wedding venue!” At that moment we started this collaboration together and haven’t looked back. Between the three of us; we all have something special to offer in this collaboration.
The Mineral Schoolhouse has become more than just a building—it's become a labor of love, a testament to the power of following your heart. From hosting family reunions to throwing unforgettable parties & weddings, it’s our mission that no matter the reason every moment spent here is infused with warmth, possibilities and great memories.
